Fall Television

Premiere week is underway on the networks, which is always a very interesting time to watch tv as a bunch of shows are pushed at you. It's that rare time when you might just discover the next Veronica Mars or 24 or X-Files. Or you might just be bored. I always like to watch the pilots, but I have to admit this year I'm just not interested in very many. I'm looking forward to Pushing Daisies which will be on tomorrow night. I wanted to watch Journeyman, but was too tired and fell asleep. So that's sort of how this television season seems to be going.

On the bright side, I enjoyed the return of Heroes, a show I like but am not as obsessed with as the rest of the world seems to be. Anyone else notice it was heavy on the subtitles last night? That's interesting for American television. I'm going to give Grey's Anatomy another shot. And tonight Bones comes back...if you've never watched this show and have time in your life, it's got some great quirky characters and often brings up the discussion of science and faith. I feel as though a broad range of opinions are presented and respected on the show. It's one of my favorites.

It's also interesting to see how many shows are based on books this year....Women's Murder Club, Lipstick Jungle, Gossip Girl....

I know that some of you apparently don't even watch the news as indicated on the poll. :-) But I can't help but get swept up in story no matter how it's presented....film, tv, novel, blog. I enjoy television!

I enjoyed the subtitle heavy Heroes last night (but, I am the kind of person who won't shy away from a movie because of subtitles). I watched part of The Journeyman and found it lacking - I read someone else describe it as a rehashed Quantum Leap and that seemed fair.

I linked over here from Euphrony's blog and had to comment because you referenced Veronica Mars, which I loved and grieved its cancellation. Thanks to DVR, I way too much TV. (I thought DVR would save us the time we'd spend watching commercials, but really I think it's just allowing us to spend more time watching more TV.) I love Heroes and enjoyed the premiere, but I too didn't care for Journeyman. I watched Chuck, though, and I really liked it. I found it quite charming. I'm looking forward to seeing what Pushing Daisies is like, but other than that there aren't too many new shows I'm interested in. I have too many other shows to keep up with anyway. I absolutely can't wait for Project Runway to come back. Sorry for the long, rambling comment. :)

Hi! Found you. I'll put you up on the FIRST member's list ASAP.

We don't have cable or satellite...so, all we watch is DVDs. LOL...I have no idea what you're talking about in this post. Heh, I'm a little glad about that. We do rent all the Star Trek stuff from Blockbuster Online though. :-)

Erin,

I miss Veronica, too! I'm still hoping for a movie! Did you know that Kristen Bell is going to be on Heroes later in the season? And Jason Dohring is on that new vampire show Moonlight.

I liked the premiere of Heroes as well. The subtitles didn't bother me, either, I also enjoy foreign films. I just thought it was interesting since we have to re-make every other country's shows (the office, Ugly Betty, etc.) instead of just showing them here.

M.C--isn't Blockbuster online great? Thanks for visiting!
