Atonement

Atonement won the Golden Globe (yes, they're over, no fanfare this year due to the strike) for best picture and I've actually seen it, so I thought I'd share a few comments.

I didn't read the book. Normally, I like to read a book before watching the movie, but let's be honest, I don't always have time for that. My TBR pile is my height five times over so I decided to just see the movie. I wanted to see the movie on the strength of this quote that I read here.

Well, that and the claims that it was the next big romance. Uh, anyway....

I loved the film. I loved these things about it:
1) The way the story unfolded. (meaning that it wasn't chronological storytelling, and really quite clever--adding mystery and curiosity to what could be a sort of simple plot)
2) The way everyone gasped in the movie theater at a certain something that was written.
3) The score.

I'm wondering if I would enjoy his writing. Has anyone read anything by Ian McEwan?
