When I was in elementary school, I thought Mariah Carey was soooo cool. I listened to "Someday" a million times on a little cassette single I had. (much to my mother's dismay) I'm a bit worried for tonight, we'll see how it goes!
Ryan tells us we must vote. Ok, charge taken Ryan! We have a nice little video about Mariah here. She has a cute dog!
Ryan points out that the judges always say...don't sing these kinds of songs! Now, they have to. Probably means Randy will hate everyone.
David Archuleta: He's singing the Prince of Egypt song. Mariah, in a shocking move, says go for the falsetto. I like this song, it's a pretty one. David sounds alright to me, I suppose I prefer a girl singing this song. Wow, Randy liked it!
Carly Smithson: Carly insults all the others by saying it's been boring without Michael. Ha. Carly's singing "Without You" The codependent song of the century! Theoretically, this should be good. This sounds super cheesy! Anyone else? She sounds pretty good, but the music and back-ups are super cheesy! Simon doesn't think she pulled it off. I agree. The way he says she's overthinking reminds me of my students! I know they can be excellent, but they overanalyze every last thing!
This Patrick Dempsey Maid of Honor movie looks lame.
Syesha Mercado: She's going to sing "Vanishing" I don't know this song, and I actually think it's kind of boring. She sounds alright, though. Paula and Simon disagree on whether choosing an unknown song is a good idea. I say, not a good idea because I started spacing during the song.
Brooke White: "Hero" Um, ok. Brooke does not have a Mariah voice. This song is pretty and probably the studio version sounds nice . The ending is rushed, the pacing seems off. I think Brooke could be in danger this week. Simon comes up with a food comparison. Lovely.
Kristy Lee Cook: Ugh. It's ok, but so very Kristy. Not my style. The judges love her.
David Cook: "Always Be My Baby" An annoying song. Love David. (he hasn't even started yet, ha!) Mariah liked it and heaps some praise on him. I love the style, though I'm not sure his vocals are totally on. Oh, he's on now! Yes, I love it! Love David! :) Wow, Randy gives him a standing ovation! Yay! Paula says something about movie soundtracks. Even Simon liked it! We love David! Don't vote him off, America! David is moved to tears. Love him. (have I said that yet?)
We make a deal out of Simon for president. Uh, no.
Jason Castro: "I Don't Wanna Cry" An interesting version of the song. I like it. I actually really like this version. It's very pretty. Randy didn't like it. The reason being that there were no power notes. Paula and Simon liked it. Simon calls the night for the guys, I totally agree!
Overall? My favorites were David Cook and Jason. I thought Mariah was a good mentor as well, she came across really well.

I agree - David and Jason. Jason is SO DARN CUTE! Girls were just ok. David A. ok too.
Who's your bottom three? I'm gonna go back and reread this. Did you say who you think is going home? This is fun!
Love love love David Cook. Before tonight I could not have imagined him singing a Mariah song. He can sing anything.
I thought Kristy did well (I like her more than you do, I guess!), Jason too. David A was ok too.
Who will go home? My bottom 3 would be Brooke, Carly, and Sayesha this week, with probably Carly going home. The judges like her way more than I do!!
Jason was my fave - no shocker there! I laughed that you said you were "spacing" during Syesha's. :)
I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only fan of Jason. I totally agree with your impression of David C.'s performance. At first I wasn't sure, but then I was totally impressed.
Yeah, the Patrick Dempsey movie looks pretty bad. I liked it the first time I saw it--when it was called "My Best Friend's Wedding"
Here's mine:

David Cook by a landslide. No one can touch him. The boys definetely ruled the night. I hope Syesha goes.

OK, first I MUST say, that I'm kind of a sucker for any movie with Patrick Dempsey in it. =-)
And, I can't believe it, but I think I liked Jason better than David! Which is saying a lot because I usually like David the best. I was really bummed that Michael got voted off, though.
I haven't been into this show since Season 1 but I'm loving it this season. Don't know why, but I'm hooked. I think the contestants have a lot of artistry this season.
I liked David Cook and Jason too... and I thought Mariah came off as a mentor very well.
Thanks for stopping by my blog :o)
thanks for stopping by everyone! I think bottom three will be Carly, Syesha, and Brooke.
Please can Carly go?
Fancy...well, I'll probably still watch it, I do like McDreamy!
I thought that Made of Honor looked kind of dumb too. Like My Best Friend's wedding knockoff. David and Jason are in my top 3 also :D xoxo melzie
