My Soul to Keep by Melanie Wells

About the book: It’s psychology professor Dylan Foster’s favorite day of the academic year…graduation day. And her little friend Christine Zocci’s sixth birthday. But the joyful summer afternoon goes south when a little boy is snatched from a neighborhood park, setting off a chain of events that seen to lead nowhere.

The police are baffled, but Christine’s eerie connection with the kidnapped child sends Dylan on a chilling investigation of her own. Is the pasty, elusive stranger Peter Terry to blame? Exploding light bulbs, the deadly buzz of a Texas rattlesnake, and the vivid, disturbing dreams of a little girl are just pieces of a long trail of tantalizing clues leading Dylan in her dogged search for the truth.

My Review: I read a lot of the other reviewers say they were confused by this book having not read the first two, but while I think the first two might have filled in some background information, I do think this book can stand on its own. This is a creepy book--suspense with a supernatural element. It's not preachy at all--in fact Dylan seems pretty far removed from any churchiness especially considering that she has a demon troubling her! The character development of Dylan is superb and interesting--there's a tiny hint of a love story, and just enough different elements to keep you guessing. I think if you like this kind of book...you'll like this one!
