I should start by saying I wasn't riveted to the screen. I was doing other things while the show aired, so I may have missed some stuff.
I really enjoyed the clips where they showed us the needs. Not enough of that. But they were really touching for the most part, I especially enjoyed Bono's.
Secondly, I definitely need to be watching So You Think You Can Dance...they were amazing!
Thirdly, loved all the insults heaped upon Simon.
Not enough Brad Pitt. :) I think Brad's little project in New Orleans is cool. I like that they blend needs here and needs across the sea. He also said some good words about how tonight isn't just about raising money but that sometimes you have to get out of your comfort zone to understand a situation.
My final question is...do you think the recession is going to affect charitable giving or has it already? Share your thoughts!

Some Thoughts on Idol Gives Back

Unfortunately, yes. I do think that charitable giving decreases when bad economic times hit. In part, this is probably because some people no longer have a job or any money to give. Also, people get fearful and hold onto what they have if the future seems uncertain.
I don't know if this has happened yet, but we're probably just on the front end of the real recession anyway. It sometimes takes it a few years to ripple through and effect everyone.
It's funny because apart from gas being 3.80, I personally haven't experienced too much of the recession yet. But a lot of the people I talk to are in a panic.
Anyone who owns a home out here is definitely in a panic.
I also wondered if our monthly Compassion contribution would have to be raised, since the dollar is weakening.
