I think most of you have probably heard about the tragedy the Chapmans (Steven Curtis) faced yesterday when their 5 year old daughter was accidentally killed by their teenage son.
I hope that you are praying for them, if you can figure out how to pray for them. I have to admit, I just didn't really know what to say to God about the whole situation when I first heard.
But my friend Nancy, who is super cool, very wise, and well acquainted with grief made the excellent point that we must keep praying for them. She suggested marking it in your calendar to pray for them specifically about this in six months time.
Because right now, we are all in shock and all talking to God about it. But in six months time or longer we will have been moved by the next tragedy as the body/heart/spirit crushing weight of this grief asserts itself firmly into their lives.
And Steven Curtis Chapman is a public Christian figure. People will want to know and will always ask about it.
So let's pray now and then keep praying for our brother and his family.

I just found out about this tragedy myself - what a wonderful idea to pray again in 6 months. I don't know if you are aware of Todd and Angie Smith's story (Todd is one of the singers from Selah), but I plan to use this idea for them as well. Oh God, please hold them close tonight!!
Elizabeth, I didn't know about Todd and Angie, but I've spent the better part of this afternoon reading over their website, and I have been crying the entire time. She writes beautifully and is so transparent, what a tragic turn of events! Thank you for commenting about it here, I will be praying for the Smith family as well.
My heart aches for them.
