This blog is going to be ALL books. And bookish blogging. So I figure I better get my other random thoughts out of the way!
And surprisingly enough, they have to do with television.
First of all...how hot is Gossip Girl so far? For some reason, I can't tear my eyes away from these spoiled self-indulgent teenagers. And their beautiful clothes. And don't Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick have the most amazing chemistry? Nothing about this show resembles reality as I know it, but still I watch it.
Now for the more serious issue...Fringe. I was really looking forward to this one, and I liked it....but it kind of, almost felt like, it was trying too hard. And too many similarities to LOST and even the X-Files....but I'll keep watching.
So...what do you all think? And was True Blood good?

Completely agree with your thoughts on GG. Love this show. I love it because it is so different than my real life.
Fringe was great. I enjoyed it. I have had a hole in my tv watching since X Files finished so this is a good fit. :)
True Blood...not sure if I am a fan yet. PIlot was not that good. I will watch Sunday and hope for a better episode.
I saw the premiere of Fringe, but I don't think I'll be going back. It was too weird; as you said, I think they were trying too hard. Before it aired, I'd heard a comparison to the X-Files, but it didn't work out the way I was led to believe.
I haven't watched any of the Gossip Girls series - I'm terrible for following a schedule and usually end up missing shows (I am going to get the boxset though lol)
The premiere of True Blood last week was pretty fun, even my hubby liked to idea once I explained the plot of the books!
I missed the premiere of Fringe but FOX is replaying it this Sunday. So I hope to catch it them.
I love Gossip Girl! I totally agree that it's completely unrealistic but that certainly has not stopped me from watching it every week. Leighton is my favorite!
I thought Fringe was pretty awesome and TrueBlood is good too, I'm trying not to be too critical since I've read the books and so far, it's very entertaining. :)
Ok, I am officially adding season one of GG to my netflix queue. I had no idea that Ed Westwicke (from a past eye candy list--yours maybe?) was on this show. Now I'm totally intrigued.
I missed Fringe. :( Booo me. I set the tivo an hour late. Hopefully they will do a replay of it before next week's episode. To me, just seeing Pacey again will be worth any annoyance that I have at them for trying to copy LOST.
All about books...my favorite subject.
I thought Fringe had a promising beginning, but I'm always a little gun-shy with new shows. Too many times have I gotten addicted to a show - especially sci-fi shows with over-arching storylines - and had them cancelled with no resolution. (Firefly, Joan of Arcadia, The 4400, Jericho - though they did feebly try to resolve that one)
I really liked Fringe, I never watched the X Files. True Blood was okay, pretty sexy and graphic though, but that seems to be the standard for HBO shows.
I thought Fringe was a bit of a disappointment--too predictable, in my opinion. Which won't stop me from watching more in the hopes that it improves. True Blood, on the other hand, is not predictable, but I'm not sure about the sex/violence combo. Might be too nasty for my taste. Any other good new shows out there?
Hey Amy - I taped Fringe and just got around to watching it last night. I too liked it, wasn't blown away yet but willing to give it time to grow. ( I'm an X-Files, Lost fan as well!)
Gossip Girl is definitely hot! You're right about the chemistry. At first I wasn't having any of Chuck Bass, because he's such a jerk in the books, but now he and Blair are the best part of the show! I taped Fringe but haven't watched it yet.
I have to admit that i have been sucked into Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill. Mike (hubby) got hooked on True Blood. Haven't watched Fringe yet, is that the one with the kid from Dawson's Creek?
Can hardly wait for Grey's Anatomy and loving me some 90210.
I have watched GG and at first, I totally didn't like it. Blair and Serena's mom changed it for me so I am now watching the show. I love Blair's fashion style and Serena's mom's classiness!
PS. I don't like Chuck at all.
Oh I love Fringe. I'm still finding time to watch the other episodes. Just love Mike..hehehe.
Jen! Fringe is rerunning tomorrow night, don't miss it! And you definitely want to check out GG...and yes Ed was on my eye candy list. ;)
Tiny Librarian..I totally agree that Chuck and Blair are the best part of the show. I also think Leighton is absolutely gorgeous.
Carrie--I KNOW. The best shows get cancelled so early. Fingers crossed that this one will last.
Luanne--yay! Good taste!
I'm now concerned that True Blood is too sexy and violent. Bummer. I miss Moonlight! (and Angel. and Buffy.)
I've totally missed the boat on Gossip Girl and think I might have to check out the DVDs and hole up some weekend to get caught up. It sounds spicy!
I TiVo'd the premier of True Blood, and, not knowing anything about the books, didn't have many expectations. It was OK...the sex scenes didn't bother me, but they didn't need to be as graphic as they were (it did verge on porn a few times), and it was generally not something I'd get excited about watching each week.
True Blood was great! Unfortunately, I didn't catch tonight's episode because our cable wasn't working quite right yet.
