Well, for my first post of the day, I must ask...
Angel or Spike?
If you are not a Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan (and really, how could you not be? go get the DVDs immediately) then you can probably skip over this.
But for those who watched....for the fans...well most people have a pretty passionate feeling on this issue.
On the one hand, we have Angel.
Buffy's first love. The vampire with a soul. Cursed by the gypsies to lose his soul if he ever has a moment of true happiness. Which, ahem, Buffy can bring him. Loves Buffy so much he leaves her so she can live a normal happy teenage life. For a girl charged with saving the world that is. Whenever they are together, however, the sparks fly and give us heartbreaking moments like in "I Will Remember You" Pro Angel fans say that Buffy and Angel are soulmates.
On the other hand, we have Spike.
Sort of a loser in his mortal life, he becomes the vicious vampire who hunts slayers. And he's perfectly content to keep hunting them until he gets snagged by Riley's little militia group and an experimental chip is planted in his head. He can no longer kill for pleasure, he can only hunt bad guys. I suspect this bores him, and he suddenly find himself in love with Buffy. And yes, I will concede that the Spike/Buffy relationship in season 6 is unhealthy. BUT...
For a vampire with no soul, he does a pretty good job of having a heart that is capable of hurting when Buffy rejects him. And so then he goes off and finds himself a soul and ends up paying the ultimate price in the battle against evil.
So...the truth is, I love them both. But I love Spike more.
Why? Spike loved Buffy even when he had no soul. That is strangely, but undeniably hot. Although he used her terribly in season 6, she was using him right back.
Look. The dynamic of Spike and Buffy was so RIGHT, the writers had to make Spike do some pretty awful things to try to convince viewers that he was evil and we shouldn't want them together. But like Ana said the other day.....it was the Buffy and Spike relationship that taught me what "shippers" are and introduced me to the world of online fandom.

Definately Spike. Angel is too mopey/broody for me. Plus I watched all of Buffy before I realised James Marsters is actually American - he totally fooled me with his accent!
Spike, of course! Apart from the fact the James Marsters is hot, I have a soft spot for the bad guy type ;-)
I like the bad boys who find redemption and when Spike and Buffy began to get it on with each other, I said, Angel who?
Love Spike! Such a naughy, naughty boy.
Hard to say! But I think I'd go for Angel.
Ok, when I first read this post, I was like umm, Angel of course? But I only got through the beginning of season 4 of Buffy...I had NO idea about all the Spike stuff...it almost makes me want to pick it up where I left off!

I'm a Spike fan obviously. Love that accent. Plus yeah, Angel's broody gets tired fast.
Angel. Completely and totally. I like Spike, but I adore Angel. I'm in the minority, but I think that Angel and Cordelia's relationship works so much better. I hated what they did to them in Season 4.
Buffy is better suited for for Spike. I'm a total Angel/Cordy 'shipper! Buffy's always too whiny and dramatic when it comes to her relationships. I have all 7 season of Buffy and all 5 season of Angel on DVD. I suppose you could say I'm a fan.
I have to go with Angel, even though I never was a fan of either show really. I just couldn't get into them.

Spike, no question. The Billy Idol of the vampire world. He makes me laugh and feel for him at the same time.
Even when Angel was Angelus (we're almost through watching the Season 2 DVDs), he was less interesting.
Alright, you've almost got me convinced to add these to my netflix queue. I just need to finish watching season one of Gossip Girl. (Another one of your influences that is proving to be very enjoyable--my husband loves it, but I think it is due to Blair.)
Like many have already said - I liked both, but felt Spike was better!!
Angel was great, but broody and the whole thing of restrictions, or he loses his soul - made it really hard!
Spike was wonderful by the end! And yes - I've got all the seasons on dvd of both Buffy and Angel - while my husband makes fun of me, I just can't quite get rid of them - I've got to sit down and watch them again!

Angel! I miss watching Buffy and Angel! I used to have my late Grandfather videotape the episodes and mail them to me when I lived in Germany. I had such a crush! Imagine my excitement when I met and was featured in a spot with David Boreanaz during an episode of "On Air with Ryan Seacrest"!
Spike. Angel has this whole "woe is me" attitude that he just really needs to get over. Plus, Spike is more fun.

Lol. I took a break from the internet for the past two weeks to re-watch all 7 seasons of Buffy and the fifth season of Angel. I absolutely LOVE Spike. That's why I love Spike too... well that and he just screams bad boy. I've been reading the semi-new comics because they're "official" just to see if Buffy ever learns that Spike is alive. She's GOT to know eventually but it's driving me crazy!
Whew, I'm so glad so many of you are Spike fans...I was worried I was going to get in trouble for that one. :)
Swapna, that was the most hilarious comment. PLEASE watch the rest of the series! :) Season 5 is actually my favorite. Well and season 3, love the Buffy/Faith fight.
Holly...Angel and Cordy is fine with me so long as that means Buffy is free for Spike! (I didn't much like season 4 of Angel)

Mine is Spike as well but it is because he FOUGHT for his soul! Angel just got a curse. Its not that I don't like Angel just Spike is BETTER. :)

Buffy and Angel might be soulmates, but many years of watching Dawson's Creek has permanently soured me on the "S-word". Definitely Spike over Mr. Mopeypants.
I'm definitely a Spike girl. I think he and Buffy were better suited for each other. Angel and Cordelia were a good pair.
