I finally went and saw the Twilight movie! I thought it was pretty good to be honest. I actually thought it was a decent book to film adaptation even after my post yesterday.
I thought Kristin Stewart was pretty good as Bella, I was just as uncomfortable watching her as I was reading her thoughts in the book!
I thought Edward was pretty hot, though he seemed a bit awkward at times. And he looked like he wanted to throw up when he saw Bella in class. I wish someone had caught onto that a bit earlier and directed him differently.
The scenery was beautiful and the Cullens were super cool. I thought Jacob was adorable. Overall, I think it was pretty good. It could be because I'm not fanatical about the book. But the real shocker is that I went to see it with my mom and she liked it. She liked a vampire story! She always hates all my vampire obsessions.
I did hear (like as soon as I got home on Twitter) that Catherine Hardwicke was fired from the sequels. Well, isn't that nice. ;) They probably need more money and a bigger name for the next one anyway. Anyone have strong opinions about that?
Did you see Twilight? Did you like it? Hate it? Indifferent?

hey...nice bog...and i do luv twilight!
Thought the movie was great. As for Robert Pattinson- bad casting call. I couldn't stop laughing during the chem lab scene.
I thought Twilight the book was not well written enough to be worth reading, but I enjoyed the movie.
Glad you liked it! I'm actually glad that CH is not going to be directing New Moon. I didn't think she did that great of a job on this one. Certain scenes were brilliant, but others were absolutely terrible and I didn't like the flow of the movie at parts (esp the pace of the love story).
I just saw it on Saturday and I felt the same. It was better than I thought it would be, really - and I thought they caught the essence of the book, which wasn't an easy feat!
I just got a post up about it on my blog here:

Wow they fired the director...funny. I guess I was to bedazzled by Edward's hotness to notice his awkwardness. I really dislike Bella's character, so I had a hard time watching the actress act just like her...so I guess in that respect it was well done.
Amy, you are tagged for the book-buying meme, if you want to play. It's up at http://necromancyneverpays.blogspot.com/2008/12/book-buying-meme.html
okay - I loved the movie and the book! I actually saw the movie twice - which is kind of embarassing, but I liked it!
Hmmm. I didn't like the books at all, but I'm planning to see the movie later this week just so I can say I have. I wonder if I won't mind it as much because I'm not fanatical about the books...will keep you posted.
I saw yesterday that they fired the director due to timing issues, that sucks but I really enjoyed the book and though I am a bit of a fan girl, I thought the movie was pretty decent.
Haven't read it or seen it, I need to put the book on hold at the library! Thanks for the review!
I have read the book and saw the movie. I thoroughly enjoyed both!!!! I am about 100 pages into New Moon. I like the characters in the books and it is a nice sequel so far.
A friend of mine blogged about the director being fired here, along with imagining a revised Pride and Prejudice in the style of Twilight.
Stephen, that's an interesting post, I saw something simliar this week about if only Twilight was more like Buffy. :)
I am going on the 19th to see it and I can't wait. I always love to see what they come up with for a movie after I finish a book.
Amy, I loved Twilight. Of course I was a fanatic about the books as soon as my little sister pointed me to them! I didn't know Hardwicke was fired.....I wonder why? I thought she did a good job.
Read it. Didn't love it. Hated Bella through the first three novels. Loved the link that Stephen posted. Amen! Bella is no heroine and Edward is only a pretty boy. Perfectly nailed. I miss Buffy. And Angel, now there's a vampire...(sigh).
I might see the movie once it's at the Dollar Theater or Red Box. I'm certainly not paying full price for it. After all, I borrowed all the books from the library too.
I liked the books and the movie. Edward was NOT hot at ALL, and what's with that red lipstick? Had he just finished "hunting?" Bella and Jacob looked like I thought they should. But after all the hype about how beautiful Edward and Rosalie were--NOT! It wasn't Oscar material, but it was better than lots of other movies I've seen. I do feel that if someone hadn't read the book, they might find the movie extra-cheesy. It followed the book well, but a lot was left out or the movie would have been 8 hours long! Of the books, Breaking Dawn was my favorite.
