From Booking through Thursday:
Do you read any author’s blogs? If so, are you looking for information on their next project? On the author personally? Something else?
Yes, I do. My google reader is stuffed with author blogs, but there are just a few I read regularly and that's because they also happen to be some of my favorite authors.
Tess Gerritsen
I like Tess's blog because it provides a lot of insight into being an author and the industry. And I love her books.
Megan Crane
I love her books and her blog also has that same light conversational style. What I also love about her blog is that she is a voracious reader and lover of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (though an Angel girl) and Chuck and Blair. I mean, really.
The Seekers
This is actually more of a writing blog, but Julie Lessman sometimes blogs there. I always love Julie's posts because she's a great writer and she communicates her love for God in a way that makes me crave to know Him more.
Angela Hunt
She'll take you through the processes of writing her books and also posts lots of fun youtube videos and such.
Meg Cabot
I've never actually read a Meg Cabot book, but I adore her as a blogger...she's so funny and smart.
Jennifer Weiner
Okay, I haven't read any of her books either, but she is fantastic in every way.
After looking these over, I've decided that I look for the same things in author blogs that I look for in every other blog...quality of content that I can't get anywhere else. So yes, I want to know the author better in the same way I want to know the normal folks who blog better. I want to learn a little inside scoop if I can. I want to feel invited into a conversation, challenged, moved, amused, and feeling like I'm so lucky to have stumbled across this blog. That's all.

I see we have one in common. Here's my answer:

I feel similarly! I'm not reading their blogs to find out about new books, it's mostly because they are smart, funny, and have other things to say.
I do read Jennifer Weiner's blog! love her!
Great post, introducing me to some interesting new blogs (being a Philly girl, I'm particularly interested in Jennifer Weiner's Inquirer proposal). Thanks for this.
Now I have a bunch of new blogs to check out. Thanks!
I didn't know about any of those author's blogs. I'm going to check them out, especially Jennifer Weiner's. I've been listening to her books on audio lately. Thanks for the tip!
I haven't followed any author blogs yet because I didn't find any which met that criteria for me- consistently interesting content. If I want to just find out information on the author, there's other places to look for that. It's not enough to make me go back regularly.
After reading your post amy I can see where I have missed out. I am going to have to check out more author's blogs in the future. Great post!
Yeah, I like the everyday stuff in an author blog.
I am gonna check out these authors.
Authored, are we?!
I definite read for the inside scoop!! My answer is up.
Beth Kephart! I love your blog too and forgot to list it b/c it's in my favorites folder and not the author folder! Everyone, you should also read Beth's blog. :)
Ooh, I didn't realize Jennifer Weiner blogs! Adding her to my Google Reader now...
Love you last paragraph. This is the second mention I have seen of Angela Hunt's blog. I've been there a couple of times from links but will have to check it out more regularly!
Hi Amy,
Great links - I also read Tess gerrittsen. She also blogs at Murderati. Link on my site.
That's a greatlist, I must check Tess Gerritson, I read one of her books years ago.
You should give Meg Cabot a go...her books are too cute and so funny!
I love Meg Cabot's blog too, she is so funny and has great links. Her books (the ones I've read) are very like the blog, you should try them.
another Tess Gerritsen fan here..of her blog, her posts on Murderati and most certainly her books.
I really like the Tess Gerritsen blog! Thanks for the link!
