Okay let's get this out of the way first...I love Jars of Clay. Okay, whew. I realize we're only on day 6 and it's second time I'm posting them!
I enjoy the whole album, City on a Hill: It's Christmastime, but I really love this song, that explores the reality that at Christmas we are celebrating the birth of someone who came to die. And what in the world was that like for Mary and Joseph, celebrating the birth of this child who had one ultimate purpose in the end...to sacrifice Himself for us all? And not just die, but be tortured, denied, and forsaken by those He loved best? Always it amazes me, Christmas brings promise for us all, it explodes with hope and love but always mixed in that is the reality that for life to really begin, death must come first.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy!

Did I ever tell you I met Jars of Clay way back when? They did a concert at OBU and I was working in catering and served them dinner. They were really cool. I even have a signed napkin from them somewhere!
