Buy One Book and Read It 2010
Buy One Book and Read It was started when I realized over 50% of Americans had not read a single book in a year. This is the most disturbing news possible to a book lover like myself, so I wanted to encourage an easy fun way to make sure people read a book in a year!
And it's back! With options!
This year there are three levels of participation:
Level One!
Buy one book and read it before December 31st, 2010.
Level Two!
Buy six books and read them before December 31st, 2010.
Level Three
Buy 12 books and read them before December 31st, 2010.
Options:
To add a little twist to this year's challenge you are encouraged to choose one of the following options to add to your level.
Indie Option--Make sure the book or books you buy are purchased at an independent bookstore.
Book Blogger Option--Buy only books you learn about on book blogs.
That's it! If you'd like to join, just add your link to the Mister linky with your level and options in parentheses. On January 1st, I'll put up a linky for reviews.

Level 3 with the Book Blogger Twist. Will write up my post in the AM. Great idea Amy!
Isn't it disturbing how many people don't read? It stuns me when I am doing signings in malls - so many people walk by the bookstore without even turning their heads. (That was always my first destination in a mall!) Or the people who come into the store with a friend and proudly declare they don't read. Wow, like it's a badge of honor or something! Sad.
I'm in! Yay for new books :)
I posted it on A Novel Challenge.
Obviously (given my penchant for book purchasing) I'm joining in on this one. Heck, it may be the only one I can actually win! ;)
Stopping by just to say that the challenge button is totally too cute for words!
Will commit to the first level for now.
i'm signing up for level two. :)
I'm so glad you're doing this again this year! I really wanted to participate last year, but I was struggling to reduce my TBR and wasn't sure I could commit to a set number of book purchases. I'm ready and eager to buy at least twelve new books this year, though!
Definitely planning a level 3. And added the link to both my Facebook and blog page. It's a wonderful idea.
Thank you for this challenge! I will buy at LEAST one book!
Sounds easy enough
I'm in ....Level 2 with the Independent Bookstore option added! Might as well, I just picked up 3 books yesterday.
Amy -- thanks so much for hosting/posting a great challenge. I love it! I'll be buying the Pulitzer Prize Winner for this year from my town's local independent book store.
I'm in! I have a hard time stopping myself from buying new books so this will be fun! Though I've been doing well recently.
I'm going to do level 2. =)
Hey, with all the books I get I didn't think I'd have time to actually buy one more... but I recently bought 2 just to catch up on a series that I'm reviewing coming up... I'm assuming you did get my email back about the Daughters of Boston series by Julie Lessman! ;)
So, I bought the third one in that series and then the second one in the latest series by Tracie Peterson - Song of Alaska.
So I guess you could say I'm doing Level 1 by the Book Blogger version... although I read a book in a day last week and am halfway through the one I started yesterday! ;)
With my two boys about the only time I really can read is on road trips where they are stuck and the hubs is driving!!!
