And so we have it at last! The title and cover of the third book in the Hunger Games series! Needless to say, I wish I had it in my hot little hands right this second. But alas, there won't even be ARCs so we'll all be reading together when Peeta finally wins Katniss for good in August!
I have to say I really love the cover. At first I didn't, but when I looked at the covers side by side I was struck by the progression....and I'm really impressed. The lighter feel of the third cover gives me hope that Peeta will indeed live to see another day. (he's my favorite character, can you tell?)
So folks...based on the title Mockingjay and the cover where it looks like our mockingjay darling is breaking free and taking flight, what do we think the third book will be about?

I really like it. :) Makes me excited to read book 2 so I can get ready for book 3!
I'm going to have to plan a trip to the states for the release date in August hahaha!
On it's own I'm not crazy about it. But as you said, comparing it to the others and knowing what it all means really makes a difference. I also like it better the more I see it. The bright color and the soaring bird give it a very optimistic feel.
I didn't know there wouldn't be arcs for this book (although I didn't have one for the first two either). It's going to be a very long wait for that August release date!
I love love it (I just posted about it, too!) It's so pretty, I can't wait to get my hands on it!
I can see why there are no ARCs, they probably don't want the ending spoiled, but since I'm going to BEA it's disappointing anyway.
Big excitement in the Nawrot household! I'm assuming we will get all involved in District 13 and a community of underground rebels fighting back against the evil empire (and will eventually win). Will the author dare to decidedly match Katniss up with Gayle or Peeta? That is the million dollar question!
Awesome. The title and cover confirm a lot of my thoughts and speculations thus far, which I intend to begin writing about as soon as I've finished Catching Fire (about 100 pages to go!). I can't wait for this last book.
Oh my goodness! It's totally gorgeous! *squeeel* I can't wait!
No ARCs? Really? Okay I could just cry now...
It's very sad though that it will be over after the 3rd book!
Yay!!!! Go team Peeta!!
I'm sad about the fact that there aren't any ARCs though!
Man, no ARC's for this one? I was already hoping to get one in my hands at BEA (just like we got Catching Fire there last year). Oh well...
Team Peeta all the way! I love the fact that the Mockingjay is no longer encircled or gold. It seems to be that the Mockingjay, invention of the Capitol, is going to be playing an even greater role than it has to date in the outcome of the final revolution. Like Sandy mentioned, I'm having my doubts whether the author is going to actually answer the debate for us or leave it open-ended, or worse yet, kill off one of the love interests. Either way, I cannot wait to read it!!
I think the cover is really beautiful! I was skeptical too at first, but it's really grown on me. I can't wait!
Reading the title, I can't help but think of To Kill a Mockingbird (which is well worth a reread, and the film a re-viewing, if you haven't lately).
I hope this book is as moving!
I still haven't read the first two books yet though they are defiently on my wish list. I keep thinking I'm going to get to them someday and I'm starting to think I'm going to have to force myself to.
I can't wait to read it!
I suspect this book will be all about how Katniss realizes her true love for Peeta and goes & rescues him and they live happily ever after. Or else I guess I could be happy with an ending where Katniss doesn't marry anybody.
Perfect title for a revolution.
I agree with Caroline -- perfect title for a revolution! And whatwith the cliffhanger ending of Catching Fire, I think we're in for one.
Love the cover -- the blue is so striking. Much more hopeful and uplifting than either HG or CF!
Cant wait omg!!! i have been waiting to see the cover for almost a year now and i already love it!! the books are amazing. (i read each one over and over again)
You will be so sad when Katniss leaves Peeta behind (where he belongs). :D
I'm still waiting to see what they're going to do with the UK cover. I liked the first UK cover, wasn't so keen on the second...
And Beth is obviously wrong... Peeta's the only viable winner!
Like I said on Twitter, she can call it crap on a stick and I will still buy it and love it. I do not like the cover but hey, I know the contents will be solid!
I think the book will take us through Peeta's rise in power as the voice of the revolution. I think him and Katniss will drift apart and guess who will be there to pick up the pieces GALE FTW! Cannot wait to see all you little Team Peeta Nerds eat it buahahaha (yes that was my evil laugh)
Oh wow oh wow oh wow! I'm so excited! I don't know what the cover will look like here in the UK but I love the title :).
This is the first I've seen of the cover, and now I am excited. I am the only one of my friends rooting for Peeta....Go Team Peeta! Cannot wait to finish this series...and then reread them all!
I love the entire series. I read the first two books in 1 day! I love peeta, but gale isnt that bad either. I think this third book is going to be interesting. Does Katniss go with Peeta [and of course go save him] or does she go with gale? Or maybe she doesnt marry at all. I can't wait! I just want to get my hands on the series!
