Hi everyone!
I hope you are all doing well. It's now summer, my most dreaded season. I hate the heat. The forecast on my phone tells me that it will stay around the upper 80s this week, but I don't really believe it. I was out at a park yesterday and it was more like upper 90s.
So anyway, booo summer.
Orphan Black
Not sure how I feel about the season overall. Admittedly, I was disappointed with Alison's arc. I felt like a lot of stuff was rushed which made it feel thin and lose impact. I still enjoyed the show, I just think maybe overall the season was too ambitious? (and way too in tune with fandom opinions and reactions IMO). About the finale specifically, I did enjoy the dance party and the little clone reunion and the bb clone Charlotte. I was surprised Mark was the boy clone, though, I guess it makes sense. But I think overall I don't necessarily feel excited about where the story is going--I still enjoy the characters, though, so there's that! The Paul thing felt like a last minute tack-on to keep him relevant and was poorly executed and ewww to the pencil in Rachel's eye.
Other TV
I did start watching Murder in the First which is a bit too edgy for TNT's normal standards, but I generally like season long murder mysteries. Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) plays this rich young evil dude so basically he's Draco Malfoy forever. Anyone else watching?
I liked The Fosters return and I think it's interesting Callie has another half sibling!
I don't know if any of you watched the original Danish/Swedish The Bridge (Bron/Broen) but I learned this week Martin won't be in the third season. WHAT IS THE POINT? I mean I love Saga, but I always saw the show primarily being about the bridges built between two very different people (them) and I'm super sad about it, okay? I mean it makes sense with the distressing way that season 2 ended, but ugh.
Sports
BOO SOCCER. I don't understand sports that end in a tie, 19 innings or bust baby.
Having said that, maybe baseball should rethink pitching since not having Tommy John's surgery seems to be the exception not the rule and basically I'm just dooming hard over the fact that the Cardinals put two of their best pitchers on the disabled list today. Ugh. I keep thinking I've accepted that this year is just a year the team isn't going anywhere but then they win a few games and I get hopeful again. THIS IS THE REASON SPORTS ARE THE WORST.
The Grand Prix assignments for figure skating get announced this week, wooo! I'm looking forward to the next quad and seeing the rising stars. I sort of want to convert you all to fans so we can discuss..any takers? Speaking of, Rohene Ward is a choreographer (increasing in popularity I believe due to having choreographed Jason Brown's popular programs...but maybe not since I only recently tuned into skating again this year, so maybe he was popular before it just seems like a ton of young skaters are using him) and this was his costume at a recent show. VIEW IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.
And that's all! Hope everyone has a good week planned! Try to stay cool! :D
